Gil Orlovitz never stayed in one literary lane. He wrote jagged sonnets, war elegies, psychoanalytic diaries, grotesque comic monologues, plays, screen stories, and novels whose sentences seem determined to break out of every available form. Philadelphia, the Army Air Corps, New York theater, San Francisco presses, and Hollywood script rooms all fed the work.
