Naomi Replansky — Collected Poems

Naomi Replansky made a small body of poems carry an enormous amount of history. Factory work, antifascism, Jewish memory, political betrayal, aging, love, Los Angeles streets, and New York voices enter through rhyme, refrain, fable, and plain speech sharpened almost to song. Her first book was recognized early, but she spent decades working, translating, revising, and publishing slowly while fashions moved elsewhere. The later collections proved how little the poems had aged. This edition resets the poetry and translations gathered in her 2012 Collected Poems, keeping its four-part order and its dates, suites, subtitles, and translation credits. The result is not a facsimile but a reading edition of a life’s deliberately compact work.
